Odprta kuhna – Open kitchen 2021
After many troubles, the 9th season of the Open Kitchen on Pogačar square started today in Ljubljana. Due to COVID-19 regulations, the opening of the season had to be postponed several times. In the end, organizer Lior Kochavy and his wife Alma managed to convince the public administration that it was time to open the Open Kitchen. It is still necessary to take into account certain measures, masks at vendors and guests at a distance of less than 1.5 meters, there were fewer tables and only 4 people could sit at the table, often disinfecting. They also had luck with the weather, where they had the sun in a month with almost daily rain.
Of course, a lot of visitors came. Traditional vendors and some new ones such as TaBar, AMAZE, le Potica, Meat Business offered their delicacies. The same was this year, the most besieged stalls at the end of the line were kraft beers, Roza slon with his Pad Thai, and Jezeršek with šmorn. The open kitchen was open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. In the afternoon, the crowd got bigger, even hungry protesters later joined. If we really followed the rules strictly, everyone in these situations would wear masks and not sit on the stairs. But apparently, the COVID-19 went on vacation.
I am definitely happy that life is returning to normal. I hope to meet you on one of the following Fridays at the Open Kitchen, where we will reunite with delicious food and cold drinks. Until then, stay healthy.
