Barbariga – season 2022

On Saturday after packing I left with my mother for Croatia, not too early. In Koper, I stopped at a gas station. Crossing the border took us half an hour. We made a stopover in Buje to pay bills. But the car would not start as the battery was empty. After a few attempts, a few locals helped us push the car for the jump start of the car. On arrival battery was dead. Neighbors told us that the new owner is taking back all of the gardens we were renting to build more apartments. After basic cleaning, we ate something and went for a walk by the coastline path.

The next day we cleaned thoroughly and after lunch played some cards. Outside was wind so no long walk that day. I went to buy a new battery at the gas station 10 km away. I hitchhiked and got a ride by a German couple in BMW to Peroj. A few minutes later Kristijan from Naklo stopped in Mercedez and took me to Vodnjan. I bought a new battery (70 €) and after picking up the pizza he returned and took me the whole way to the apartment in Barbariga. I own him one. After dinner, we went to bed early.

Last morning we finished what we had to clean. It looked like there was a crowd at all border crossings and I choose to go towards Rijeka. We took a break in Opatija after waiting for a traffic light. Parking was a challenge. There we made a short walk and ate calamari at a restaurant Slavina with the view of the sea (38 €). Driving home again had a few parts where we stood still for traffic jams (border, traffic light close to Ilirska Bistrica, Vrhnika-Brezovica).
