Gugutke – 28. obletnica Metelkove – Gala Hala

Again, COVID figures show a trend that I did not like. And I haven’t really been to any concerts this year. I had some errands in town and in the meantime, while I was waiting, I checked if something was going on today. This week, Metelkova celebrated its 28th anniversary. If we have been here since the beginning, when water and electricity were still stolen and we created a lot of memories and non-memories, it is appropriate to stop at least a short while.

I arrived a little after 9 pm, some electronics are being played in front of the Menza pri koritu. Jalla Jalla also has a concert outside (Makkela / Psychedelavci). Before Chanel 0 there is also some audio visual installation and DJ. When I get to the Gala Hall I saw that they have something in the garden. A concert from Gugutka, once Katka suggested them to me. The ticket was € 5, and € 7 at 9 pm. I understand a more expensive ticket on the day of the concert, but if you missed half of the concert you give more, it’s interesting.

Do you need a PCT to enter? A mask is needed for the toilet or if there were more than 100 of us. The summer garden of the Gala Hall is quite full, but people were sitting on chairs. I probably sat in the Gala Hall for the first time when they broadcast The Socialization of the Bull. I ordered 3 dl of Coca Cola (€ 1.95), find a chair and park somewhere in the background. Gugutke, supposed to mean Turkish turtledoves and according to the singer, they were a bit mistaken here. I didn’t know the band before, they were formed last year, I browsed a bit later. Band Gugutke are Nejc Poljanec, accordion, voice; Luka Poljanec, percussion, voice; Gal Golob, (counter) bass; Benjamin Barbarič, guitar, violin; Tomaž Zevnik, clarinet, voice.

The concert itself was an interesting experience. They define them as Balkan jazz, where they actually play ethno music that originates from Slovenia to Turkey in their own interpretation. The instrumental part actually works well and the rhythm is appealing. Unfortunately, they will have to something with the vocal part. I would see a solution to get some singer. They may want such an effect, but then the sound of the instruments should also be less clear. Songs alternate between sad love and festive merry songs. They finish the concert around half past ten, returning with another song to the encore. One thing is the same, in the parking lot someone bent a wiper on my car.
