WU Wien 11.-13.4.2013

Vienna was a place of student exchange (I joined as a PhD student) between the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana and the Vienna University of Economics and Business, organized by PIPL (Business Informatics & Business Logistics) from 11 to 13 April. 2013

In fact, I had to take some more leave to be able to go. My sister took me to the assembly point and the bus left for Vienna at 5 am. The ride took about 5 hours. After arriving in Vienna, we first saw the heating plant building designed by the artist Hundertwasser. From there we went on a tour of the faculty. In the afternoon we arrived at the Wombats Hostel. After a little rest we went to dinner in Mariahilferbrau. Of course, typical food goes well with typical drink. Boštjan joined me, he was lecturing there at the time. Around midnight we returned to the hostel. There they have a club in the basement. Luka and I saw table football there and we decided to challenge those who were currently playing. I said I’m left-handed and I’m not useful in attack. He told me to be behind and how to set up defense. We staredt playing and won smoothly for 2 hours while opponents take turns. Well, I asked him did he played before and he answered that he was once a national champion! Around 2 o’clock we went to bed.

Friday, 12.4.2013

I slept for 5 hours and woke up at 7am. Followed by bathroom and breakfast and slow assembling. For that day, we first gathered to see the port on the Danube. We took a look at the infrastructure for a bit, then we entered VIP offices of the former Russian owners. In between there was a lunch break and a tour of the Ottakringer brewery. From there we moved to look at the railway infrastructure of the main station and the Bahnorama tower. It was time for a dinner hosted by Accenture as some kind of headhunting event. As an employee, I was not interested/ing and I could enjoy food and drinks. After dinner we headed quickly to the hostel and went out, ending up at the Shack pub. After 3h most of people went to the hostel, and a couple of the brave of us went looking for a new adventure on the Balkan (Ottakring) strasse. Of course we found the last dumo, which was officially closed, the owner is guy from Niš, there are hard core people inside and there are dark boys behind the bar. We arrived at the hostel at 7 am.

Sobota 13.4.2013

After almost no sleep it was time for shower, breakfast and packing. Now we went for sight seeing by bus. Finally, a tour of Schonbrunn. Then a little walk around the center, where I treated myself to a kebab. In the afternoon we headed home and on the bus we were all more corpses than anything else. Almina took me to Fužine. There I just quickly unpacked and went to the Thai Inn to celebrate the New Year 2556.
