The French Dispatch – movie

The trailer for The French Dispatch I saw when I was last time in the movies. I got intrigued and a week later I went to Kino Komuna with Andreja. We both had some problems finding a parking spot. At the theater, we bought tickets (12.6 €). Of course, masks, COVID pass (app not working). A quick stop at Nama, we couldn’t pass perfumes without a tryout. Back at the theater, we ordered Bacardi with Pepsi (bottle), 12 €. We missed a few seconds when we finally got to our seats.

Wes Anderson is probably the director with the strongest signature in his movies. From pastel colors, symmetry, slow-motion and whip pans, 60’s clothes and music, dialogs. All this was not missing in his latest movie. His cast has the usual set of big stars like Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Willem Dafoe, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, and Adrien Brody. But this time it was even bigger with Benicio Del Toro, Léa Seydoux, Timothée Chalamet, Henry Winkler, and Christoph Waltz.

The movie is a kind of homage to the dying medium of magazines like New Yorker. You will see 4 articles for the current issue presented in visual form as they were created. All 4 stories are about a different topic (food, art, politics, and travel). But in Wes world journalist and their subject interact in a specific way. Which story did you like the most?
