Kranjska Gora in 2024
Sister with her family.took appartment at Kranjska Gora for a week long vacation. I joined them for a.weenend. They picked me.from work with slight delay. There was a bit of traffic jam in the citry at begining and later it was smooth ride.
On arrival we went first to the reception and shop. One.day’s rent is 52 € (SŽ) and 2.5 € touristic tax daily per person. We got.nice place, clean, floor heating, small terrace, some hunidity.
After lunch I went for a walk with nephew up to Podkoren.. In the evening we playd cards, Rummy, with mulled wine and cold cuts. I played well. We went late to bed.
Next morning we were up late. I walked to lake Jasna. After breakfast we drove to Mont Lussario, Italy. Nephew went skiing for 3 hours, 31 €. Rest of us took gondola to the top, 18 €. It is 3.000 meters long, in 15 minutes ride it rises by 1000 m (1780 meters above sea level).
There we took a stroll around village, visited church (chapel in 14th century, church from 16th century, many times rebuilt, paintings by Tone Kralj, pilgrimage), bought some souveniers, sat twice for a drink, 5/6 € beer, coffee 1.5/2.5 €. Weather changed between sun, fog, rain and snow. It was time to return home.
At home we rested a bit after lunch. Later in the evening it was time for cards again, didn’t play well. But we finished even later this time.
Last morning others sleept longer so I went for a longer walk in some rain. First stop was at Zelenci lake, source of river Sava Dolinka. Last part was off road, nice turquise colors of water, not many people.
From there I moved to Planica, uphill. There was a Continental cup ski jumps event, Slovenian jumpers were not good. Sister picked me up with car, because I was too tired for 2 hour walk back.
After breakfast we drove to Russian Orthodox chapel (1916, Russian prisoners of war that built road, 200-400 people died) over some serpentines towards Vršič pass. Nice wooden structure with stone foundation and two domes, surrounded by snow cowered mountains around.
On return to Kranjska Gora we walkeda round town, went for a drink in Lačni Kekec, dissapointed, 5 € beer. In the apartment we had nice homemade lunch. Now we rested in front of TV, watching light comedy. I left in the evening to catch last bus to Ljubljana (19:20), ticket was 2.1 €, bus was 15 minutes late, driver played loud music. From bus station in Ljubljana I came.home with taxi, 8 €.
