Dolenjska (Lower Carniola) – Sunday afternoon
Andreja and I are going somewhere on a trip. We picked Dolenjska because there are open terraces of restaurants. However, it is still too cold outside for a meal on the terrace, so we ate something at home. We started around 1 PM. We chose among my suggestions for Dolenjska.
We decide to make our first stop in Žužemberk. The sun on the way warmed us through the glass but outside is still not so warm, especially with the wind. At the top, we check the castle and descend to the river. On the other side of the Krka is the Koren inn with a beautiful garden by the river. There is a crowd in front of the entrance, but we bypass it with a skillful maneuver. We ordered a beer (5 € for 2 with a tip). There are only sunbeds available and not ok for my back. So with the glasses we head back to the other shore and sit on a bench by the water. We debate over beer, I smoked a cigarette, I got spicy gifts. It’s time to move on. First, it is necessary to return the glasses and pick up the cell phone that was left there.
On the way to Novo mesto, there is a mandatory stop at Hudičev Turn for an Instagram picture on the swing, which is not exactly new. You can also see the ruins of the Soteska mansion overgrown with ivy. In Novo mesto, we seek a bit until we parked. We walk through the old town to Main Square. There we sat down in the charming bar Pod arkadami. It is quite cold in the shade and the jacket needs to be fastened. Good thing I have a hood because it also blows. I ordered cviček and she had coffee and toast (7 € for 3dl cviček, coffee with milk, toast; tip included). We dreamed about future festivities and the time when it will be possible to travel. We are slowly getting cold so we headed towards the car.
At the gas station we got some car oil, choosing which one to buy, top it up a bit. We called Vesna for visit to Šmarješke toplice, but unfortunately, it’s dinner time there. Now it was only left to drive home. In a warm car, debating what has filled the last month, time passes quickly.
Good info. Lucky me I ran across your blog by accident (stumbleupon).
I have saved as a favorite for later!
