Chiang Mai
We arrived at Chiang Mai in the morning. We relaxed at the station a bit with cigarette and beer (100 THB) before 2-row (100 THB) took us to nice hostel Vida Guesthouse (190 THB per bed per night) managed by German Sid and his Thai wife Irin, that help us with all trips we took in Chiang Mai, beforehand sent a mail with info. After a shower, we went out to town, bought some bananas (30 THB).
While it was a lantern (Yee Peng) festival it was busy in temples with different ceremonies.
We light candles in lanterns on 3 Kings Monument square, they provided candles for free.
After dinner (350 THB with beer) we went to see the procession.
Interesting to see different groups in different clothing with different sponsors like shop, university, minority group ….
One tourist was annoyed about me blocking his view.
In the end, we walked tired home, at the hostel we went to the rooftop terrace for a beer (65 THB) and view of lampions from all around. When one caught fire it looked like shooting star, burning bright and soon gone into the dark. Better than going out of town to be part of touristic group releasing of a lantern. We went in for an early night. I woke up a few times during the night.
