Osteria da Mauri in Ljubljana

I saw there is new place on my route towards home. So I visited it today for my lunch break. Osteria da Mauri is hidden on Mali trg (Little square), between Mala ulica in Trubarjeva ulica. It was nice weather and I sat in the garden. On the menu they have breakfast, antipasti, primi piati, secondi piati, dolce, typical italian restaurant (Tipica cucina Italiana, chef Maurizio-Mauri Magerios with wife Andreja). But I chose from daily menu Vitello Tonnato.

This dish from Piemont is typical surf and turf, veal covered with tuna sauce. I got it on table quickly with some bread. Nice presentation with colorful cherry tomatoes and big capers. I tried it for the first time. Taste is great combination and good choice for quick snack or antipasti. I paid 19.4€ for meal, one drink and tip. A bit pricy, but having in mind location and quality not bad.

I visited again this place for lunch break. I took new item on menu, Ravioli with ricotta and spinach dell’Osteria (red sauce with cherry tomatoes and olives, extra cheese?, 16.5€). It was tasty, but portion was on small side (bread provided helped) as this should be just Primi piatti.
