Manna – restaurant week 2023
After work, I have to go somewhere before the cinema at 7 pm. I’m hungry and it’s restaurant week. At 4:00 p.m., I got a reservation in Manna, where I slowly walk by Gradaščica,. They boast of the existence of an inn in this house since 1854, the chef Žan Jereb.
At an early hour, it was quite empty and I am alone in the back room, pleasant interior.
I opened with Zarova sparkling wine and a greeting from the kitchen (walnut cookie, pumpkin seed spread, pumpkin jam, cocoa), sweet and nutty. Also homemade bread and mineral water.
For starters, beetroot tartare (grade feta cheese, smoked plum syrup, pumpkin seed gremolata, candied beetroot, herbs), smoked and sweet.
I chose the fish menu followed by pumpkin spice latte cold soup (sous vide salmon, orange gel with chili, pickled ginger, sage pesto, milk foam), tender fish, undertones of spices. Along with the white wine Sauvignon Zarova ’22, light, fruity.
I finish with smoked trout in a leaf of sauerkraut (white bean puree, marinated chanterelles, smoked trout sauce, parsley oil, trout roe). An interesting combination of cabbage and fish, the roe is crunchy.
I also have dessert, even though I don’t have a sweet tooth, 6 €, cheesecake (pumpkin oil mousse, roasted plums, plum sorbet with cinemon and Caribbean rum, salty granola, shisa), sweet and salty.
The menu is €25 and a drink with dessert an additional €26. I slowly make my way to the cinema.
The overall impression is good, there is no excess, an interesting combination of flavors. I had to ask waiter to pour me another glass of wine, but he offered dessert several times.
