Ljubljana to Berlin
After short sleep (3:30am-6:30am), because of party previous night, I finished packing, ate breakfast. I forgot few things, among other things, powerbank. I said to sister it is to early, to wait a bit before driving me to station. That was a mistake. I arrived to station few minutes before train left, but station is in reconstruction. I run around platforms to find my train. When I finally came to train, I pressed door button, but doors didn’t open and train took off. So I missed it by seconds.
Now I had 1.5 hour to spend until next train. In that time I saw old steam train. I should try ride on this one once, even it is mostly meant for kids. I still got time, so I went to bar near by for a drink, 3€. I returned to station early. Luckily train (316) was already there. First ride was from Ljubljana to Villach (09:35–11:22). We were on time first half an hour, but after we were late, fog all around. When we entered Austria, sun and few centimeters of snow. There I talked to lady that was going to Amsterdam and later for 2 months to Americas. Our paths were same until Munich.
We arrived on time in Villach, to catch next train. We had just 6 minutes to transfer for train going to Munchen (11:28–15:41, ICE 116). I paid 25€ from Ljubljana to Salzburg, further on in Germany I used FIP coupons. In begining train was empty, midway it filled up and I searched for seat as I didn’t make reservation for the seat. Sat next to nice family, shared some tangerines.
Soon after we entered Germany troubles started. We stopped in middle of nowhere, trouble with signalization system. We moved toward Munich slowly. In the end we were late almost 2 hours.
That ment I missed few trains to Berlin. Finally I got on a train, 1st class, 300kmh (17:11-22:05, ICE 702, coupons). I bought coca cola for 4.2€ at restaurnat and ate homemade sandwich. Again we were late, this time just 10 minutes. I took M8 tram from central train station to Žan’s place, 3.8€ cash. Nice apartment in nice part of town. He provided me with accommodation on his couch. We talked a bit about life in Berlin, work, … before I fall asleep on couch in front of TV (Deadpool & Wolverine, saw it before on one of flights, fun).
