We woke at 8h. After the bathroom, I ate a sandwich and smoked a cigarette.
It was interesting, bright, and covered with pottery. We crossed the river again (3 THB), had a beer (60 THB), and moved to the next temple.
Wat Pho is known for its big reclining buddha (100 THB).
We cut line to enter Grand Palace
with Wat Phra Kaew (500 THB).
I rented violet long pants (can’t enter in shorts) for a palace (50 THB).
I bought a SIM card (300 THB) valid for 1 week. I had a problem inserting it into an iPad. We had mango juice at Tah Maharaj (no alcohol in a few hours gap during the day, between 11 AM and 4 PM, 80 THB).
It was crowded at Sanam Luang while there was the first day to commemorate the late king. Free water was given to groups 2-5.000 people that were allowed in at once, up to 100.000 in a day.
When we finished sightseeing I was tired mostly from heat and Barbara had one big blister. We had a long walk to the train station, but there was no sleeper for the next day, so we bought regular seats (mistake! 542 THB for two). Next, we went with a tuk-tuk (160 THB) to Sathon rd to meet with Phuket in the restaurant he manages (Krua Banleng – a nice place in the business area).
It was really hard to find it, we asked, called, took another taxi (60 THB) and finally found it just before closing. There we had a nice dinner (800 THB on Phuket), beef soup and pomelo salad, both spicy and morning glory for her, beer.
The next stop (taxi 150 THB) was Happy fish (Wat Phraya Krai, posh, touristic) where we ordered a bottle of rum and drink it with soda (1000 THB with tip and discount). Waiters were keeping glasses full all the time.
Last stop (taxi) was Khao San rd (ultimately touristic), had few beers in the bar (The Club – round of 2x beer, 1 whiskey 360 THB).
In club (Lava) we ordered beer tower-giraffe (1100 THB), they tried to overcharge us.
For the finish, we shared pad thai(40 THB) in the street. Finally, we departed by taxi at 4 AM (60 THB).
