Slovenia vs Portugal with CR7 – 2:0

Cristiano Ronaldo was coming with Portugal’s team to Ljubljana for a friendly game against Slovenia. From the bus, I saw around 500 people waiting for CR7 in front of the Grand Plaza Hotel where he stayed. This was a good opportunity for the local national team. They sold out tickets for that event and a few thousand were sold as part of yearly tickets, 6 games for 150 €.

After work, I went toward the stadium to collect my yearly ticket. The organization was one of the worst I experienced. There were 50 people in front of me and still I waited almost 2 hours. Tickets arrived late and ungrouped. Employees were confused, so people were in a bad mood. most of them went to the game without a ticket.

Before the game, I went to Zoki restaurant to eat. I returned back 30 minutes before the game. Even though there were 16432 people, entering the stadium was not a problem. I had a seat in the middle of the 5th row. They prepared some light show for the game, Mexican wave, introduction of players, …

In the first half, none of the teams played well. Portugal had an advantage in possession and Slovenia was counting on counterattacks. In the second half, the away team didn’t score on the opponent’s mistakes. But on the other side, Slovenia scored twice from a counterattack, Čerin in the 72nd and Elšnik in the 80th minute. Portugal tried with additional pressure but no change in result.

This was a great victory for Slovenia even if it was a friendly match. Also, the ages of Ronaldo and Pepe put them out of their prime. Most of their first team was missing. The judge from Bosnia was on the home team side. But it was a nice experience.

On my way home I met girls from Fužine, Urška, and Maruška. We moved together to Cutty Sark for one drink before taking a taxi, 8€.
