Luleå to Kemi

Woke up for the toilet, back to bed, late breakfast, walked to the train station. The train by Norrtag (11:28-13:30) was canceled, a taxi drove us to Haparanda, 287SEK, 27€.

Next was the transfer to Kemi. No public transport, guide for night tour sent his girlfriend to deliver me to kemi, time difference problem. After some searching, she found me. I paid 30+10€.

At the Vila Kemi hostel, 52€, 3*, nice private room, good common space, shared bathroom, sauna, no info about entrance, calling around, entered in the end. Agoda’s problem.

Walked to the SnowCastle, 30€. Inside the building, you see an ice castle, a few sculptures, slide. There is also a gem exhibition. In general, not worth it. Bought souvenirs, 22€.

On the way home, a quick stop at the shop, 22€. In the hostel, a warmed dinner in the microwave. Back to the room and waiting for pickup, northern light tour, 99€.

With the van, we drove to the south, searching for a spot without clouds. We stopped a few times, no luck. Finally, we joined another group at campfire, sausage, and a warm drink-glögi.

On return home, a few more stops, high activity, but no luck. Later, somebody posted that he saw some aurora at Kemi, where we started! Frozen and heartbroken, we returned at 2am. I had tea with some pills and a hot shower before turning in.
