Bijelo dugme in Stožice 2026
After disappointment on Bijelo Dugme concert in 2016, I thought I would never go see them again. But my niece had a wish for birthday to go to their concert. While I was buying tickets for her and her boyfriend (on the stands), I also took one for myself (on the floor), paid 165€ altogether. As it was their farewell tour (Doživjeti 100. – 50th anniversary in 50 cities – started in Sarajevo in 2024), again. On the day of the concert, we drove to Žale, parked there, and took a bus to the venue. After entering the arena, youngsters went to their seats. I brought drinks (16,5€), and I moved to the floor. There was also Samo at his pre-birthday celebration and Matjaž somewhere in the back.
The show started around 20:30 with an intro from the song Kad bi bio bjelo dugme by Jutro (on-screen video from ex-Yugoslavia). The first song was “Padaju zvijezde”. Besides Tifa (Mladen Vojičić) as singer, there were Goan Bregović on guitar, Zoran Ređić on bass, Điđi Jankelić on drums, and Ogi Radivojević (never part of Bijelo dugme before, Vlado Pravdić and Laza Ristovski are no longer with us) on keyboard. Slowly, they were increasing the tempo with “Svi marš na ples”. After the songs “Aiaio radi radio”, “Lažeš zlato lažeš dušo”, “Za Esmu” and “Zašto me ne podnosti tvoj tata” until song “Lipe cvatu” to finish first part. But Tifa’s voice is gone. It is sad he still performs.
Now Alen Islamovič took the mic and opened with “Pljuni i zapjevaj moja Jugoslavijo”. While the first part was mostly in calm tones, in the second part they prepared the audience for dancing and singing with Napile se ulice, Ne spavaj mala moja muzika dok svira, and Ćiribiribela. He sounded much better, even though he is 68 years old. Again building atmosphere until the song Doživjeti 100 (same as tour name).
On Encore after 2 hours, both singers and some ex beand memebers where there. Bregović said, these were all members still alive. It is, on purpose, a lie, missing out the first singer and great contributor to the band’s fame, Željko Bebek. For support in the back, they got brass, string, and singer sections. They should have done this from begining to fill up what Tifa was missing. Goran mentioned our skier Bojan Križaj as announcment for the song Hajdemo u planine: “Now we will play a song that we would like to dedicate to a great Slovenian. This is Bojan Križaj, who is here with us today. When I was writing this song, Bojan taught me to ski with the same skis that he won the championship with. I skied happily with those skis for many years.”.
They brought the concert to a climax with a true Balkan celebration with the composition Đurđevdan. They said goodbye with acoustic performances of Ružica and Ima neka tajna veza. Bregović’s final words were “I hope that this night will remain in your memory as fondly as it will for us. We had a great time. Ljubljana, thank you for this wonderful night”. After almost 2 and a half hours, they left the stage and from the speakers we heard again “Kad bi bio bjelo dugme” by Jutro . Problem with getting on the bus, but finally we made it and short drive home.
To summarize, from the aspect of feelings, it was a nice night of nostalgia; from the aspect of quality of performance, it was terrible. To elaborate, this legendary group made the audience of all generations dance and sing with them. Their 33 songs brought lots of joy in 2.5 hours lasting concert. But on down side, missing out and denying Bebek, Tifa without voice, many mistakes by Ogi on keyboard, unsynced video on monitors in back, … Even if they get again together, I won’t be there.
