otočec večerja

otočec večerja

We went to the restaurant at the Otočec castle with Andreja the night we stayed there. After visiting Advent in Novo mesto, we headed to the dining room at the castle. I myself was quite impressed by the ambiance, which is suitably equipped for the castle hall.

For starters, we are served sparkling wine from Simčič and an amuse-bouche (butter, hazelnut chocolate, cottage cheese, salami and homemade bread).

greeting from kitchen

The first plate was duck breast marinated with honey from the Lekše beekeeping and white port, cottage cheese with pear, duck liver mousse, red onion ice cream.

Followed by Jerusalem artichoke soup with truffles and homemade sour cream from the Kukenberger Organic Farm.

Next up is wild trout fillet, mini barley with vegetables from the Castle Garden, roasted garlic cream, and pea puree

fish

Finally, flap steak, roasted on charcoal, roasted pumpkin puree, caramelized shallots, demi-glace sauce, potatoes stuffed with herbs, cottage cheese, and autumn mushrooms, roasted string beans.

Finish with a dessert with cream of blue frankinja, chestnuts, pears, ice cream.

Wine accompaniment was included. In the end, we added a few more glasses (€ 55). Above all, I remembered the Forbidden Fruit Šturm – ice wine from Traminer, which was served with dessert.

I can say that it was a beautiful evening and we spent 1.5 hours in a beautiful environment with a delicious food and wine that goes along with it. In the end, everything is possible too much, so be careful with excellent homemade bread. They emphasize local ingredients which they also acknowledge with a Michelin dish. The staff was up to standard but still kind of homey. Definitely an experience worth € 50.
