Canada

I woke up after 6h of sleep at 7 AM. I showered then I eat eggs and hot dogs for breakfast. It was time to say goodbye to Avdo and I was on the road again. Still, in Endwell, I stopped at the gas station. I couldn’t pay with my credit card, but I had enough cash, 20 $. On the road the weather was nice, again it was listening to the radio and enjoying the view.

Almost at noon, 4 hours later I was at Niagara Falls. I filled the gas tank to the top before returning the car, 36 $. When I handed over the car at Hertz, they called me a taxi. So, I moved to falls with cab and Indian driver (20$). First, I checked the US side. The day was cold and clear. From there I walked over a bridge to the Canada side. The border procedure was simple, I just got a stamp in my passport. To my surprise view was better on this side while in Canada there are hotels and casinos but on the USA side is nature and view of the horseshoe was better. From there I walked to the bus station. After buying a ticket I had to wait for an hour. While the station was nothing special, I went out and got myself a lager at Grand Central Sports, not a good one (8C$).

On the bus that was late (13C$) I had a nice chat with a guy that was backpacking in Yugoslavia in the early nineties, he shared some interesting and helpful info about Canada (1812). The bus stopped in the industrial part of Hamilton far away from everything. From there I walked until I came across Jack Astor’s bar. While they had WiFi there I could call Ana / Radoš around 5 PM. While I was waiting for them, I had a beer 12C$. They picked me up half an hour later and we went to downtown Hamilton. After we parked, we walked around the city center that was going through a revival. We visited some craft show and after we went for a beer (65 €) in a few different pubs (Augusta’s Winking Judge, one Portuguese), we also ate macaroni with cheese and fries. While we had fun and JB didn’t have time in Toronto, I decided to stay a few hours longer in Hamilton.

I bought a ticket for GO (14C$) that left at 23:00 and arrived in Toronto an hour later. In Toronto, I had just enough time to walk from one bus station to another bus station. It was almost run in the end, but I got in time there, even sat and relax for 15 minutes.
