Santo Domingo

I started the morning easily, shower, breakfast (omelette, toast, coffee), packing. I walked to old town, had a big beer for 300pesos, visited the oldest cathedral in the Americas (entrance 100 pesos), Panteon, monastery ruins …

Also, I bought some water, 80 pesos. Walked from old town, passed Chinatown, across the big bridge in the sun (needles in park).

Finally, I arrived at Columbus Lighthouse, 4$. This is supposed to be Columbus’s mausoleum, built in the shape of a big cross. During the night, powerful lights are pointed into the sky. In rooms you can see some kind of world ethnographical museum. Some Slovenians were there.

Now I took Uber to my next accommodation (5€), an apartment in a fancy neighbourhood, 101€. The flat was new and well-equipped. I went to the shop to buy detergent, cigarettes, beer, and snacks, 13$. I put clothes in the washing machine and went to the rooftop pool for a swim and a beer for 5$.

Returned to apartment, put clothes to drier and went out to dinner in a Chinese restaurant, 13 $. It was not a great experience, not clean, loud, smelly, food was average. I returned to the room and went to bed early.
