Štanjel castle – restaurant week
Štanjel castle was this year’s pick for speing restaurant week. We had a bir of peoblwm organizing ourselves, but in the end we got here vacant table over wekend.
Around 14h Andreja and Katka picked me up and we drove towards Karst. We arrived early and went for a coffee near by. At castle we got a nice table in the sun. Forcast was rain but sun was great news until it was too strong and we tried to hide from it.
I chose vegetarian option. For starter they brought us oliv, oliv oil, fleur de sel from Piran with homemade bread. For an amuse-bouche I got cottage cheese, goat cheese, castor oil and lentils on polenta chips; girls got beef tartar and shrimp ontapioca chips.
In between I had plate with different cheeses and girl had prosciutto. Next was onion soup with anise and walnuts. Now it was time for ravioli with rabbit (mine with vegetables) in egg sauce and sheep cheese cream. With their green apple sorbet we rested a bit.
Last meal was wild boar fillet with horseradish puree (vegetarian was cauliflower). For dessert was chocolate cream with mascarpone muss and coffee foam. Also there were canele with vanilla and honey, vermouth gelatin and pistachio cookie. I had lemonade and sparkling water to drink, girls had some lighter white wine from Movia and vitovska grgana. In the end we paid 60 € per person with bigger menu, drinks and tip. Nice experience but nothing special to remember.
When we left we took quick strol around village on hill. We had some more nergy so we drove to Komen and we stoped at Paradiso bar where we had few drinks and played some darts (25 €). We arrived home a little before midnight.
